Let me tell you a little about Hopewell Valley Quilters. There are two groups, an evening group and a daytime group. The evening group meets the third Thursday of every month at 7 PM in the Hopewell Township branch of Mercer County Library (at 245 Pennington-Titusville Road, Pennington Road, NJ 08534). Our program consists primarily of show and tell and conversation about the works that people bring in. Sometimes we have an informal program, such as a fabric swap or a presentation by someone who has attended a workshop. There are no dues and no officers. The size of the group varies from about 15 to 30 people. The group has been together for over 25 years, and includes all levels from beginner to pro. We always welcome newcomers.
The daytime group meets every Thursday except the first Thursday of the month, from about 10AM till about 2PM in the library. This group is more like a quilting bee, in that people bring projects and sew together. Again, there are no dues or membership, and newcomers are welcome.
Our groups also put on a quilt show each year as part of Pennington Day. The show is an informal, community based one, and includes quilts made by people in the groups as well as antiques we own.
Both the evening and daytime groups include some of the nicest people in New Jersey!
Neither group offers instruction, though we do help one another out with projects. If you are interested in learning more about quilting,Pennington Quiltworks is a wonderful place to take classes.
